• Members of the Young Social Innovation at St Patrick’s Comprehensive in Shannon are working with Music Generation Clare to entertain the student body each Friday lunch time.
The inspirational project, pioneered by Transition Year students, is aimed at helping their classmates and peers to relax and unwind while promoting well-being among students and staff as they head into a weekend break.
Music Generation Clare has been set up under the National Music Education Programme to offer young people the opportunity to access a high quality performance music education. A variety of instruments are taught to the enthusiastic youngsters.
While the organisation receives funding from Clare County Council and the Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board, its parent company is co-funded by U2, The Ireland Funds, the Department of Education and Skills and Local Music Education Partnerships.
Teachers at St Patrick’s Comprehensive are very excited about the collaborative effort which is certainly engaging students in a positive and enjoyable pursuit, learning a new skill for life and entertaining their peers at the same time.

Caption: Students participating in the instrumental hub at St Patrick’s Comprehensive include: Amy Roche, Sally Fox, Alannah Willets, Robert McCarthy, Jack Ryan, and Lucy Huynh.
