  • Fourth Year Colaiste Muire Ennis students; Adriana O'Reilly, a winner, and Melanie Hennessy, who was shortlisted, ..in the Japan-Europe Mutual Understanding Scholarship Programme 2006 offered through the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Photograph by John Kelly... ..The aim of the programme is for European secondary school students to experience Japan by attending school and staying with a Japanese host family for a period of 5 weeks. ..1 secondary school student from Ireland willo be selected to take part in the programme which will take place form Sunday 25 June to Sunday 30 July 2006. ..Applicants msut be aged 16 as the starting date of the progrmme, and be highly motivated to learn about Japan langauge and culture. ..Applicants must be fluent in English, and have sufficient Japanese ability to be able to take part in a homestay with a Japanese family. ..applicants should have no current plans to visit Japan for an extended period of time. ..Applicants should not have Japanese nationality or dual nationality. ..The scholarship will cover the return air fare to Jpan, accommodation, meals (breakfast, lunc and dinner), local tours and visits (transportation, admission fees etc.), and insurance for the duration of the stay in Japan.  Other costs will be the responsibility of the participant.....
