Photograph by John Kelly... ..The aim of the programme is for European secondary school students to experience Japan by attending school and staying with a Japanese host family for a period of 5 weeks. ..1 secondary school student from Ireland willo be selected to take part in the programme which will take place form Sunday 25 June to Sunday 30 July 2006. ..Applicants msut be aged 16 as the starting date of the progrmme, and be highly motivated to learn about Japan langauge and culture. ..Applicants must be fluent in English, and have sufficient Japanese ability to be able to take part in a homestay with a Japanese family. ..applicants should have no current plans to visit Japan for an extended period of time. ..Applicants should not have Japanese nationality or dual nationality. ..The scholarship will cover the return air fare to Jpan, accommodation, meals (breakfast, lunc and dinner), local tours and visits (transportation, admission fees etc.), and insurance for the duration of the stay in Japan.  Other costs will be the responsibility of the participant.....

  • Young Chef of the Future Competition 2005..Amanda Hassett and Aine Moloney, two fourth year..students in St Josephs Secondary School, Tulla have..scooped first place in this years senior regional heat..of the competition in Tralee Institute of Technology..on last wednesday...Their winning main course dish "Castlemahon Chicken..with St Tola Goats Cheese and Spinach Stuffing wrapped..in Parma Ham on a bed of Spiced Red Cabbage with Apple..and a basil champ...Dessert: Autumn Reversed Kilkee Rhubarb Orange and..Ginger Nutty Crumble with a Baileys Cream...The challenge was to prepare, cook and serve a two..course meal for four people in 1.5 hours using "A..Taste of Ireland" theme.
