  • Members of the Young Social Innovation at St Patrick’s Comprehensive in Shannon are working with Music Generation Clare to entertain the student body each Friday lunch time.<br />
The inspirational project, pioneered by Transition Year students, is aimed at helping their classmates and peers to relax and unwind while promoting well-being among students and staff as they head into a weekend break.<br />
Music Generation Clare has been set up under the National Music Education Programme to offer young people the opportunity to access a high quality performance music education. A variety of instruments are taught to the enthusiastic youngsters.<br />
While the organisation receives funding from Clare County Council and the Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board, its parent company is co-funded by U2, The Ireland Funds, the Department of Education and Skills and Local Music Education Partnerships.<br />
Teachers at St Patrick’s Comprehensive are very excited about the collaborative effort which is certainly engaging students in a positive and enjoyable pursuit, learning a new skill for life and entertaining their peers at the same time.<br />
