  • SHANNON DEVELOPMENT APPOINTS DR VINCENT CUNNANE AS NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE . Shannon Development today (Monday, 3rd March, 2008) announced the appointment of Dr Vincent Cunnane as Chief Executive Designate.  Dr Cunnane, who is currently Vice President Research at the University of Limerick, will become Chief Executive in June this year. Mr John Brassil, Chairman of Shannon Development, said: ?The Board of Shannon Development is delighted to have secured a new Chief Executive of the calibre of Vincent Cunnane.  He has an outstanding record of achievement in the academic field, and has the experience and the ability to lead the Company forward in the 21st century.  There are many challenges facing the company and the region, and I am fully confident, with Vincent at the helm, that we will rise to these challenges?. Dr Cunnane said: ?I am delighted to be appointed to this position. Photograph by John Kelly... ..The aim of the programme is for European secondary school students to experience Japan by attending school and staying with a Japanese host family for a period of 5 weeks. ..1 secondary school student from Ireland willo be selected to take part in the programme which will take place form Sunday 25 June to Sunday 30 July 2006. ..Applicants msut be aged 16 as the starting date of the progrmme, and be highly motivated to learn about Japan langauge and culture. ..Applicants must be fluent in English, and have sufficient Japanese ability to be able to take part in a homestay with a Japanese family. ..applicants should have no current plans to visit Japan for an extended period of time. ..Applicants should not have Japanese nationality or dual nationality. ..The scholarship will cover the return air fare to Jpan, accommodation, meals (breakfast, lunc and dinner), local tours and visits (transportation, admission fees etc.), and insurance for the duration of the stay in Japan.  Other costs will be the responsibility of the participant.....
