  • Jacques Brennan with a vintage Dutch cheese press which he intends to put back into use at his newly opened vegan cheese factory and shop, the Hungry Soul, in the centre of O'Briens Bridge. The press was imported from Holland in the past century and was previously used at a cheese-making factory in Kilshanny.<br />

  • Referee Rory McGann stands between team captains Keith Stritch (Smith O’Briens) and Michael Scanlon (Scariff) who wore black armbands during the intermediate hurling semi-final to commemorate the historic centenary of the four Scariff Martyrs tortured and killed by British forces on the bridge at Killaloe in 1920.<br />
The four, Michael Egan, Brid McMahon, Alfie Rogers and Martin Gildea were summarily executed in retaliation for an attack on Scariff RIC Barracks on 18 September 1920, during the War of Independence.<br />
