For the second year running, the students of St. Josephs Secondary School Tulla are sending two in-calf heifers to Malawi Africa as part of their Christmas fundraising for Bothar. Cake sales and raffles have been the order of the day for the past two weeks in the school, which culminated in 1200 euros being raised. The heifers were supplied by Joe Hallinan Quin and veterinary procedures were provided free by vet Paddy Hassett. The students must be commended for focusing on the poverty of others and enabling them to better their lives. Our picture shows, from left, Joe Hallinan cattlesupplier, Jim Cooney Principal, Siobhan O'Sullivan and students Isabelle Thomas,Carol Stephens, Noel O'Sullivan, Eoin Loughnane, Mary Nihill and Kevin Greene...Photograph by John Kelly.
